Winter is here and there appears to be a chance of snowy weather this weekend! If it looks at all like Sunday activities might be affected, be sure to check our website, Facebook, or Instagram (1stpresgso) for updates. You can also text FPCGSO to 41411 to sign up for text alerts.
A couple important notes right off the top:
- In 2021, our Share the Love Valentine Outreach Project was so wonderful that we have decided to do it again! I am working with Newton Cowan to update our list of congregation members who could use a little extra love this Valentine’s day due to health concerns, loss of a loved one, or other situations. If you would be interested in providing a Valentine’s gift bag to one (or more) of these members, please CLICK HERE to read more details and sign up.
- Weekday Preschool registration for the 2022-2023 school year is open. FPC members and current Weekday families get priority registration this week! If you have questions or would like to tour the school, please contact Weekday Preschool Director, Lana Burske at lburske@fpcgreensboro.org.
- Last call for PASSPORT CAMP REGISTRATION. If you would like your current 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader to attend Passport Camp with FPC at Greensboro College July 11-14, you must fill out this registration form by January 15 and your initial, noon-refundable deposit of $150 is due by January 30. Please let me know if you have questions.
- We are looking for more children in 4th grade and older to serve as acolytes in the 11am sanctuary worship services. (We will also consider 3rd graders, but they need to be tall enough to reach the candles!) If you are interested, please contact Anne Albert at aalbert@fpcgreensboro.org.

This Sunday
Elementary milestones will NOT meet this Sunday, January 16. Preschool-5th grade students are invited to join me at 10am in the Biblemax theater (CORL 305) for a winter movie!
Please note: The Diaper Bank event scheduled for Jan. 16 from 2-4pm has been CANCELLED. The Diaper Bank has decided to cancel all volunteer events in January due to the current increase in Covid numbers. We’ll try again in February!

Coming Up
– Next Sunday, January 23, Milestones resume!
– Also beginning on January 23, FPC is joining Pastors for North Carolina Children in a monthly letter-writing ministry on behalf of public schoolkids. January focuses on school nurses. Discipleship Coordinator Leigh Curl-Dove is making it easy — she will have materials (including sample letters) in the Welcome Center that you can fill out in a few minutes. Anyone who can hold a pen or a crayon can participate! Learn more in her post at the First Elm Notes blog.
– For the moms & grandmas – Please consider joining other FPC women for the Joy Full Living Retreat from 9am-3pm on Saturday, January 22! More information and link to register can be found HERE.
