Newton Cowan, Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care

Dear FPC Church Family,

Yes, I do mean family.  We are part of this family of faith connected by Christ.  We gather here to worship, to celebrate, to mourn, to have food and fellowship and fun.  We are family.

Perhaps some of you all remember, like I do, the fall adventure weekends to Presbyterian Point (yes, I am dating myself) and to Montreat. It’s been a while.  Before we delve back into a weekend somewhere, we are going to try something new.  Yes, I am aware new can be scary, but take a deep breath and hear me out.

We are planning a day at Camp Weaver, just south of town, for Sunday, October 29.  We will gather around 10 for intergenerational Sunday School and worship at 11.  The parking is easy and accessible for all.  We have plenty of seating under a massive outdoor pavilion and after worship we will have a meal together provided by Camp Weaver.  Following lunch there will be all kinds of activities.  You can come for part or stay for it all.

For those of you who may be unable to join us in person, we will have the sermon and some music on our website.

If you can come, please sign up here so we can have a number for the food.  Find some folks to carpool.  We hope you will come; it will be a great day of community building and forging new friendships as we seek to serve Christ each and every day.
