Beloved Church family,

We continue to grieve deeply Dolly’s untimely passing. We are grateful for the outpouring of care and support for Dolly’s family and for us, the staff.

We, like all of you, yearn to gather and give thanks for Dolly’s life and hold each other up in our sadness. We will have a brief prayer vigil tomorrow evening, Monday, August 2, at 7 pm on the sanctuary steps. We hope this will allow us time as a faith community to mourn our loss together.

We know many of you want to help and we have several things you can do at this time:

– Sign up to bring a meal to Bill, Sydney and CeCe. Here is the link with details.

– Send gift cards to their house. Restaurants suggested are Poblanos, Chick-Fil-A, Pieology, Five Guys, and others at Friendly Center. Gas station gift cards also would be appreciated. The address is 911 Onslow Drive, 27408, just off Pembroke, near Friendly Center.

– Share a memory of Dolly’s impact on your life. Go to the home page and click on Share a Memory.

There will be other things to do in the near future and we will update you as soon as we have that information.

Dolly’s service of witness to the resurrection will be held in several weeks. We will send out the date and time as soon as it is confirmed. Bill has shared with us and asked us to share with you that Dolly died quickly and painlessly, likely of a blood clot.

We recognize that Dolly touched countless lives and cared for many. If you need to speak with me or any of the pastoral staff our doors are open. We promise to walk with you on this painful path even as we cry alongside you.

Again, thank you for your prayers, your care, your unyielding support.

We remember that whether we live or whether we die we are the Lord’s. This gives us hope even now, especially now.

Grace and peace,

Jill
