Dear Families,

May is here!! Maybe it was just me, but April felt like the longest, shortest month ever! There’s still lots happening this month, so be sure to read all about it!! 

HEADLINES: (more info below)

  • First Families this Friday evening!
  • Kids Disciple Club Ice Cream & Foam Party on Sunday afternoon for SECOND-FIFTH graders!! (RSVP needed)
  • May Sunday School – something different for kids & special class for parents/adults
  • Thursday, May 9 – Staying Safe Online class for parents (info presented by NC DOJ)
  • VBS/KDC registration continues and we still need some volunteers!

This Sunday, May 5

Ages 3-first grade are invited to gather in the Welcome Center Children’s area at 10am for a special story time led my member, Jill Hare! They’ll have snack together as well and possibly go out to the labyrinth playground (weather permitting).

Second-Fifth graders are invited to CORL 306 at 10am where I’ll lead them in a spiritual practice & some games. We’ll have snack and join the others on the playground (weather permitting).

Parents & adults are invited to attend a special series in the Garden Room at 10am in observance of Mental Health Awareness Month. This Sunday’s session will be Mind: Signs & symptoms (adults and children) a person may feel or see in a loved one or friend, and support for care, led by Rev. Caroline Phillips from our Pastoral Care staff. 

Two worship services: 9am Rejoice & 11am Sanctuary. Nursery care available beginning at 8:45am.

***In the afternoon: Kids Disciple Foam Party!! SECOND-FIFTH graders are invited to come to the Life Center at 3pm for ice cream Sundaes. Then, we’ll head outside for a super fun Foam Party from 3:30-4:30!! Please RSVP HERE so I can have plenty of ice cream! Friends are welcome! (Wear shoes & clothes that can get wet and bring a towel! You won’t get soaked, but you will get damp and a tad sticky!)

  • **Friday, May 3 – First Families Dinner Gathering – contact Lorie Jones for more information & to RSVP (loriejones88@gmail.com)
  • **Thursday, May 9 – Parents are invited to a special presentation from 5:30-6:30pm in the Garden Room titled Staying Safe Online. This presentation by the NC DOJ will offer valuable information and we hope you will join us! See attached flyer.
  • May 11 –Neil’s Meals – 9am-noon in the Life Center. Open to anyone ages 8 and up (children under 13 should be accompanied by an adult.) SIGN UP HERE!

May 12 & 19 – we will continue the Sunday School series with story time for younger children and spiritual practices/games for older children alongside the Mental Health class series for adults.  (May 12, Body: Care for self and others experiencing challenges, extending grace & kindness, led by member Dr. Maddy Lowman; May 19, Soul: Promoting acceptance & compassion, language matters, decreasing stigma, seeking help, led by member Katie Rich.

May 19 – Pentecost Sunday! We will have a congregational potluck lunch following the 11am worship service. Fried chicken provided – bring a side or dessert!
