Helping Greensboro tornado victims

Dear FPC members:

NeilAs you know, a tornado touched down just a couple of miles from the church last month, damaging or destroying several hundred homes, schools, and businesses.

In response, our staff and members have been working through Stu Johnston, assistant principal at Swann Middle School, formerly Aycock Middle. Stu and some of the teachers have used church funds to buy essential supplies for the families of their students.

This month we will be partnering with our sister congregation, Saint James Presbyteriain, to continue relief efforts in the affected neighborhoods.

We'll have more information about this partnership soon. For now, here are three things our members are asked to do now to help with the tornado response.

  1. Send your checks or online donations to FPC and designate Tornado Relief. Our online giving page is here
  2. Take donated items to either the McGirt-Horton Branch Library at 2501 Phillips Ave. or to Swann Middle School, 811 Cypress St., very close to our church. Needed items are non-perishable snacks like fruit cups (things that don’t need to be heated), diapers, wipes, blankets, wash cloths, towels, baby clothes, candles, lighters, flashlights.
  3. Contact Stu Johnston directly to offer help or ask questions, 336-541-4403. I will stay in touch with Stu and share updates or changes as they come up.

Thank you for joining us in being the hands of Christ to our neighbors.
