Danny Massie is a native of Mississippi and a graduate of Belhaven University. He obtained his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Union Theological Seminary (now Union Presbyterian Seminary) in Richmond and pursued additional study in Edinburgh, Scotland. He served churches in Norfolk, Va., Vicksburg, Miss., and Kingsport, Tenn., before accepting the senior pastorate at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church in Charleston, S.C. - a position he held from 1997 until his retirement in 2015. Since that time he has served as interim pastor at both First Presbyterian Church in Orangeburg, S.C., and most recently at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
Danny is married to Tita Morrison Massie, his wife of 50 years. They have four children and six grandchildren. The couple recently returned from an Alaskan cruise in celebration of their golden anniversary. In Danny’s spare time he enjoys reading, golf, collecting epitaphs, college sports, and travel.
