What is a Peppermint Parade?

YOU are the parade and peppermint is the theme! The parade is a fun Covid safe way to gather you and your family for a ride around the church, meet our new pastor Jill Duffield and her husband Grant, as well as to celebrate FPC and our future.

When is the parade?

You can arrive any time between 10 and 12 on Saturday December 5. We hope that everyone will not arrive at 10, that would cause quite a traffic jam!

How long will it take to do the parade?

We anticipate that it will only take a short time to drive the block but this depends on how many cars arrive at the same time. Short stops will be at the Life Center drop off zone, the Discipleship tent and to meet Jill and Grant. Ushers will be available to keep the parade flowing.

What should I expect at the parade?
  1.  You will remain in your car for the parade.
  2. At the Shetler Building please continue south on Elm to Lindsay Street. Do not turn right onto Fisher Avenue!
  3. Turn right onto Lindsay at the Kontoor Building.
  4. Turn right onto Greene Street.
  5. Continue down Greene and turn into the circle at the Life Center.
  6. Exit the Life Center circle and continue down Greene Street. You will see parade watchers along the street who will wave and greet you.
  7. As you approach the sanctuary you will see a live nativity put on by our senior high students.
  8. Turn onto Fisher Park Circle, enjoy some Christmas carolers and then be met by the Discipleship Committee and their goodies.
  9. Meet Jill and Grant the last stop near the Welcome Center. They will greet you from a safe distance and you will have the opportunity to hand them a greeting card of welcome, hopefully with your family photo.

What do you mean by “decorate your car”?

Car drive throughs in Covid times encourage signs, balloons, any manner of decoration to make the event more festive. We would love to see your creativity but it is not required. You can include your family name in the decorations to help Jill get to know you. The most important thing is that you come to enjoy the parade and get to meet our new pastor. But…there will be a prize for the best decorated car! Keep in mind the “peppermint” theme!

What items should I bring for the Outreach table at the Life Center circle?

You can bring canned goods for Urban Ministry, gently used coats for Backpack Beginnings, diapers (sizes 4-6) and wipes for Faith International House, and $20 Wal-Mart gift cards for Hot Dish & Hope guests.

What items will I be able to pick up at the Life Center circle?

We will have Advent kits and communion kits available. Sanctuary puzzles, Hot Dish & Hope honor cards, and Fair Trade coffee and hot chocolate will be available for purchase. (Or buy ahead here and pick up that day.)

Will we be practicing safety measures at the parade?

Yes, all volunteers will be masked and standing at least six feet apart. Members in cars will be at a safe distance from those outside and it is recommended that you wear a mask as well.
