Dear Families,

Happy October!!! Here is what’s happening for FPC kids and families!

This Sunday

Our elementary milestones continue!

  • Preschool & Kindergarten: MLC 102 (Preschool nursery classroom) for a Fruit of the Spirit Lesson series – High School youth, Callie LaFave and Ada Kirkland will lead the lesson!
  • First Grade: CORL 304 – Getting to Know My Bible
  • Second Grade: CORL 301 – Worship Education
  • Third Grade: CORL 300 – Communion Education
  • Fourth Grade: CORL 303 – Catechism Education
  • Fifth Grade: CORL 306 – Bible Skills

Our Diaper Drive is up & running! We will be collecting diapers and wipes for the Greater Triad Diaper Bank. These can be dropped of in the red wagons on Sunday mornings (Life Center, Tower Room, Welcome Center). All sizes will be accepted, but the Diaper bank has the highest need for sizes 4 & 5, pull-ups, and wipes. The drive will run through October 17. On October 17, we will head to the diaper Bank in Winston Salem from 2-4pm to help count and sort diaper so they are ready for families who need them. We still have plenty of open slots & we need your help!!! Please consider SIGNING UP HERE to join us!

October 17 is Children’s Sabbath! Our milestones will meet on regular schedule, but there will be a special Sunday School presentation for preschool & elementary parents in M125. FPC member, Dr. Maddy Lowman, will discuss what stress and anxiety looks like in young children & how parents can help! There will also be a special display in the Welcome Center to celebrate the 75th anniversary of our Weekday Preschool!

Finally, get your costumes ready!!! On Sunday October 31st, children are invited to wear their costumes to church! We will gather at the back of the Life Center at 10am (children should be accompanied by an adult). Then, we will go trick or treating around the church before heading out to the playground for some doughnuts & apple cider! Extra prizes given if the costumes include plaid (for Reformation Sunday) or reference to a bible story!  I’ve got my costume ready! 🙂

Coming Up

Do you have a current 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grader who might be interested in attending a 4-day, 3-night faith based camp in summer 2022? Registration is open for Passport Kids Camp and we would love to reserve our spots! If you would like more information, please take a second to fill out this three question Google form so we can see which camp dates would work best for the majority of families and what time would be most convenient for an interest meeting. (Click HERE to visit the Passport Kids Camp website for more information.)

Our Kids Clubs kicked off on Sunday afternoon and were tons of fun!! If you missed it, that’s ok!
You can still sign up and join us for the next one on November 7. SIGN UP HERE

Other Notes and Info

We had hoped for a “full on” return this fall, but that has, obviously, not been entirely possible. As we continue to get back into semi-normal rhythms this fall, we are constantly making adjustments and reevaluating. As such, we have decided to cancel Trunk or Treat (Oct. 31) and Parents Night Out (Nov. 13) for various reasons including continued Covid concerns, scheduling conflicts, and lack of participation/interest. As we keep moving prayerfully and hopefully toward Advent (yes, Advent!), we will be considering some of our favorite traditions to figure out if and how we can do them safely. We welcome your constructive input and appreciate your prayers & support! 💗
