More about worship
Each Sunday morning, our faith community comes together to learn, grow and worship together. Any given Sunday may include special events and guests, but every Sunday includes worship services and Church School classes.
Our traditional worship service is held at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Traditional services include Scripture-based sermons, sacred choral and organ music and special emphases based on the litrurgical calendar and other events surrounding the life of the church. Services are held in the sanctuary.
Our non-traditional worship experience, Rejoice!, also is held each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the Mullin Life Center. Our Presbyterian theology and traditions remain the central focus of worship, but the music, dress and environment are more casual.
In Memorial Chapel each Sunday at 10:30 a.m., the Rock of Eagles Church holds its worship service. This church is comprised of French-speaking refugees from Africa. Everyone is invited.
Each Sunday, our 10:30 a.m. worship service is broadcast live on radio station 790 AM. If you can't make it to church, be sure to listen.
If you have mobility issues and attend the 10:30 a.m. service, just pull up to the door on Greene Street and a member of the parking ministry will park your car while you come into the santuary.
First Presbyterian's Church School program is the basis of Christian Education for all ages. We have a class for everyone, and we're here to help you find the right place if you'd like. Classes meet from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m.
Adults have about a dozen classes to choose from. Some classes organize gatherings and social events of their own outside the church campus.
Youth members divide into two, and sometimes three, classes depending on age. Eighth-grade students are invited to join the Confirmation class which meets during Church School for part of the year.
Children learn the basics of our faith through activities each Sunday morning on the third floor of the Corl Building.
Preschoolers are invited to Church School each Sunday on the second floor of the Corl Building.
A nursery with proefssional staff is provided for children 3 and younger during Church School, as well as during worship services.
Our Sunday Visitors Center, located near the corner of Elm Street and Fisher Park Circle, is a good place to start your exploration of First Presbyterian. There you'll find people to help you find what you're looking for, information about the church, or a place to enjoy a cup of coffee.
We always welcome visitors and hope we can make your time at First Presbyterian meaningful. If you'd like to know more about the church and its ministries, consider Explore FPC, a four-week class that includes a tour, a chance to meet staff members and discussions about our faith and church. At the class's conclusion, participants have the opportunity to join First Presbyterian Church.
