Senior Pastor Sid Batts

 

Sid Batts, senior pastorSid joined First Presbyterian as senior pastor in January 2001. A native North Carolinian, he holds

degrees from High Point University, Princeton Theological Seminary and McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Sid is married to Cathy Armstrong of Charlotte, and they have two young adult daughters, Meredith and Emily, and one grandson. Cathy is an elementary school principal in Guilford County Schools. Sid has served churches in Mobile, Ala, Atlanta, and Dunn and Lowell, N.C. Sid enjoys golf, a jog, beach music, The Beatles and the Batts girls. He is the author of The Protestant Wedding Sourcebook. Sid is the 11th senior pastor in First Presbyterian's 185-year history.

 


 

Neil Dunnavant, executive pastor and associate pastor for outreach ministry

 

Neil DunnavantNeil graduated from Grimsley High School in 1975. He holds a bachelor's degree in political and social thought from the University of Virginia and a master's of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary. His wife, Kate, also is from Greensboro. They have two children, Joren and Emily. He enjoys running, listening to and dancing to Cuban music with Kate, and improving his lousy Spanish. Neil has been with FPC since July 2003.

 


 

Dolly Campbell Hunt, associate pastor for discipleship

 

Rev. Dolly HuntDolly is a native of Louisiana. She holds a bachelor's degree from Auburn, a master's in pastoral studies from Loyola and an master's of divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She has two daughters, Sydney and Ce Ce. Dolly came to FPC in 2003. Her ministry reaches out to our visitors, helps members develop gifts and talents, and coordinates the young adult group, the Pathfinders. Dolly enjoys all things Cajun, especially cooking spicy Cajun dishes and being a resource guide to anyone who plans to visit "The Big Easy". She loves to read and discuss books from The New York Times best seller list, and she is a movie buff.

 

 


 

Peggy Matthews, parish chaplain and director of pastoral care

 

Peggy MatthewsPeggy graduated from Salem College and received her master's degree in social work from UNC-Chapel Hill and her master's of divinity from Wake Forest University Divinity School. She was chaplain resident for two years in the Moses Cone Health System before coming to FPC. Peggy and her husband, Sam, have two children and three grandchildren.She enjoys the Canadian Boundary waters, playing the organ and piano, strong coffee, Goofy and making interactive altars.

 


 

David Partington, parish associate for pastoral care

 

Rev. David PartingtonDavid's preparation for ministry was at the School of Sacred Music at Union Theological Seminary in New York City and Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va. As a pastor he has served two small churches and a mountain chapel in West Virginia, been the founding pastor of Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Lewisville, N.C., and served as the associate pastor for pastoral care and adult ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. David and his wife Brokie are the parents of three adult children and have two grandchildren. He enjoys singing in the Chancel Choir, getting his piano fingers back in shape, trying to stay fit and laughing a lot.
