BeFriender ministry is a listening presence to anyone experiencing grief, loss, transition or other concerns for people in all kinds of life stages and transitions. Everyone is, at times, on a difficult journey and needs a caring companion who will listen, empathize, and be a reminder of a caring, faith community. When the circle in informed about a death in a member’s family, volunteers visit the home to offer practical assistance, from sitting at the home while the family is attending the funeral service to providing a meal. Contact Gloria King to learn more.
First Friends are trained lay members from the congregation who provide a meaningful presence in the lives of members who have suffered a loss, are ill or having another appropriate need for assistance. First Friends training is offered every other year. Confidentiality is the key to this ministry. To volunteer for training or to request a First Friend, please call a First Friends Coordinator: Jeanette Giddings at 282-0585, Judy Grubbs at 292-1369 or Betty Potter at 292-5592.
This group arranges and delivers flowers from the sanctuary each week to offer solace to the bereaved, the ill, and the homebound. Contact Gloria King to learn more.
MOMS provides a warm meal to families after the birth or adoption of a baby. Volunteers deliver the meal and other gifts from the church. Contact Gloria King to learn more.
Each Sunday morning, church members can drive to the Greene Street sanctuary entrance and allow a volunteer to park their car. After the service, volunteers return cars to the entrance. This ministry allows members who can't easily walk long distances to attend worship without having to worry about parking. Contact Gloria King to learn more.
This group is devoted to helping those in crisis through quiet, individual prayer. New names are given to the members of the team each week. All names are kept in confidence. Contact Gloria King to learn more.
