Sponsor a child at Espwa

It's time to renew our support for Espwa, the children's home in Haiti, by sponsoring a child. This year we are asking for a donation of $250 a year to cover some basic needs for one child. Learn more.

Outreach opportunities

Hot Dish & Hope on Greene Street

Since July 8, 2008, Hot Dish & Hope has served a meal each Tuesday at 6 p.m. to anyone who is hungry. Hot Dish & Hope also has a Thursday evening meal at 6 p.m. The meals include a short worship service in the Mullin Life Center. The event needs volunteers to help serve meals and to provide other support. Use this form to sign up.

Donate items: a car, furniture, cans of food

You can help our efforts to connect resources with people who need them, especially if you have a used car you no longer need or furniture you can donate. The Barnabas Network accepts used but in-good-shape furniture, which it donates to families who need it. The network also accepts used cars, which it gives to local working families who need reliable transportation. And every Sunday, everyone is encouraged to bring cans of food to church, which we donate to Greensboro Urban Ministry's food pantry.

Travel to Cuba in October, 2010

Our next trip to Varadero, Cuba, to help our sister church there is Oct. 1-9. Please sign up by Aug. 1. Learn more.

Help provide a temporary home for homeless families

About four weeks each year, we convert the Memorial Building into a temporary home for families in transition through our partnership with Guilford Interfaith Hospitality Network. This project depends on volunteers to help serve meals, to spend the night at the church and to help our guests get familiar with a new setting. Special giving opportunities

  • On the first Sunday of each month we collect the Pennies for Hunger offering, which Salem Presbytery uses to alleviate hunger in its 19 counties and around the world. Please bring donations: pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, dollars -- even checks -- are welcome.
  • On Communion Sundays, usually the first Sunday of each quarter, our special offering benefits the Good Samaritan Fund. The fund helps people in our community who are having trouble providing basic needs such as food, shelter and utilities.
