Nov. 18, 2009 — The God app
Recently, some cub scouts performed a skit about the ride of Paul Revere.
A boy in the skit proclaimed, “The British are coming! The British are coming!” Another scout said, “I know.” The runner asked, “How do you know?” Because “There’s an app for that!”
Well, the ad campaign for Apple’s iPhone has entered our cultural lingo, which means that we recognize some important truth in it.
And maybe that truth is this: We can find lots of cool digital tools to do important stuff and silly stuff. But some things – like believing in God – are more complicated to download and install.
And if you want a list of other great questions of humanity, well, there probably is an app for that!
Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
