just a thought

Nov. 12, 2009 — Living with love

A new pastor was to conduct a funeral service for a member who died. Since he hadn't known the deceased, he invited family and friends to deliver a few words at the service.

But an awkward silence followed this invitation.

"Surely," the new minister said, "You've know this man for years. Someone must have something good to say."

Finally came a voice from the rear: "His uncle was worse."

Well, it does make us think what people will say and think about us after we die. When I was a teenager, an old baseball coach said to me, “All we really have is our name and reputation.”

Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
