just a thought

March 11, 2010 — Queen Victoria

Once during her reign, Queen Victoria of England heard that the wife of a common laborer had lost her baby.

Having experienced deep sorrow herself, the queen felt moved to express her sympathy. So she called on the bereaved woman one day and spent time with her.

After the queen left, the neighbors wanted to know what the queen had said. "Nothing," replied the grieving mother. "She simply put her hands on mine, and we silently wept together."

Well, we sometimes find ourselves in a place of loss and grief. What we find in faith is a compassionate Christ who simply puts his hands on ours and we silently weep together.

Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
