March 10, 2010 — Tour guides

If you've ever traveled and had a good tour guide, then we know how important they can be in helping us understand the significance of places, people and events.

What you and I know is that our life is full of such tour guides, people who help us understand the significance of something.

Our tour guides are dressed up as the teacher who helped us make sense of algebra or geometry, Shakespeare or Faulkner. Tour guides are dressed up as the older colleague who guides us in our work or the counselor who teaches us how to deal with our past so that we can live into our future.

Being a tour guide can be a spiritual calling. So, who are the people in your life for whom you could be a guide, helping connect the dots of what is significant?

Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
