Jan. 29, 2010 — Radio City joy
At the height of the Great Depression, billionaire John D. Rockefeller constructed Radio City Music Hall in a run-down neighborhood in Manhattan.
Thousands turned out for the opening of this magnificent Art Deco palace, designed to bring high quality entertainment to ordinary people.
Since 1932, Radio City has sold more than 300 million tickets and is still the largest indoor theater in the world.
I'd like to think that with Rockefeller's billions I, too, would bring joy to millions of people. But most of us don't have billions to bring joy to large numbers.
But we do have other ways. For spiritual people, discovering how we can do that follows the question of why we would do it.
Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
