Jan. 28, 2010 — Gospel hound dog
Elvis Presley would have turned 75 years old this month. To celebrate, his old movies have been on television.
When Elvis performed he was constantly on the move -- shaking, gyrating, dancing and tossing his hair. He once described himself as “limp as a rag and worn out” after a show.
Elvis grew up singing in a church in Tupelo, Miss. Singing gospel music became a way for him to unwind. So, after the show, he would go back to his room and sing gospel music for hours.
So, after a busy day, what do we do to unwind? Maybe it's not singing Gospel music, but finding a way to reflect with a spiritual perspective can be important.
And it just might keep us out of a "Heartbreak Hotel."
Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
