Jan. 22, 2010 — Job dissatisfaction

Here’s some news that might surprise us: A recent poll found that less than half of American workers are satisfied with their jobs. It was the lowest level since this survey began in 1987.

With 1 in 10 Americans still looking for a job, we might expect those of us who have jobs would be more satisified.

But our job satisfaction has been declining for years, despite healthier work environments and perks such as flex time. So what is it that we are missing? Maybe it's a sense of purpose, the feeling that what we do is important and that it makes a difference?

Well, the spiritual journey links our purpose with what we do and how we do it.

Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
