Jan. 18, 2010 — Martin Luther King Jr.
Today we celebrate Martin Luther King Day, the Christian preacher and Civil Rights reformer. King once said this in a sermon:
To those who hate us we shall say, "We shall match your capacity to inflict suffering with our capacity to endure suffering. We shall meet your physical force with soul force.
Do to us what you will, and we shall continue to love you… Throw us in jail, and we shall still love you. Bomb our homes and threaten our children, and we shall still love you.
Send your hooded perpetrators of violence into our communities at midnight and beat us and leave us for half-dead, and we shall still love you.”
Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
