Jan. 8, 2010 — Terry Anderson's life
In 2001, Islamic militants released journalist Terry Anderson after holding him in a Beirut dungeon for 2,454 days. During that time he was chained, blindfolded, beaten and subjected to a mock execution. He saw other hostages come and go and saw some die.
"I could not have survived without faith," he said. "I could not have dealt with the anger, hatred and bitterness. I could not have found the joy, peace and love that I have now."
Five years later Anderson and his family returned to Lebanon for a journey of healing and reconciliation.
"People say I lost seven years of my life," Anderson explained. " I did not lose them – I lived them."
