Jan. 7, 2010 — Lost Boys
Eight years ago, more than 3,000 young men from Sudan came to the United States. These refugees from a brutal civil war became known as the “Lost Boys.”
A documentary chronicles the return to Sudan of three of those men, now American citizens. They went back to visit and to help.
One provided supplies and trained staff for a medical clinic. Another raised funds and oversaw the drilling of six wells to provide clean drinking water for 20,000 people.
The third is planning to build a school in his childhood village.
They believed in doing something for someone else, of giving back. They believed they could change people’s lives. Which sounds a lot like those who call themselves God’s people.
Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
