Feb. 26, 2010 — Neil Simon

Playwright Neil Simon has won more Academy and Tony nominations than any other writer. Audiences have flocked to his plays for four decades.

Critics say the key to Simon’s success is the humor woven into the lives of everyday people.

Time magazine once wrote, “If Broadway ever erects a monument to the patron saint of laughter, Neil Simon would have to be it.”

Simon allows us to share his characters' aspirations and laugh with them in their foolishness.

Well, in our everyday lives, we often forget to laugh at ourselves, which is why the spiritual principle of humility is so important. It allows us not to take ourselves too seriously so we can laugh at ourselves.
