Feb. 9, 2010 — Saying what they think
Sometimes, someone becomes famous just for saying what everybody else is thinking.
That happened recently on “American Idol,” when General Larry Platt performed his rap number “Pants on the Ground,” which basically urged people to pull their pants up.
The droopy-pants style has annoyed almost everyone, but no one has criticized it like Platt. His brief performance drew almost 2 million YouTube hits and instantly became part of American culture.
In Jesus’ time, everyone knew that the system was corrupt and many leaders were hypocrites. Part of the reason Jesus became so popular – and such a target – was that he said what everyone else was thinking and knew to be true.
Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
