Dec. 21, 2009 — Sometimes we
rush to judgment too soon

Do you remember the Andy Griffith episode in which Andy has been elected chairman of the “needy children” charity drive?

Word gets back to Andy that Opie has given only a penny at school.  Andy’s mighty perturbed.  He’s the chairman of the drive, and his own boy only gave a penny.

So on several occasions, he tries to explain to Opie why he should give more than a penny.

One night Andy calls Opie for supper and tells him if he wants to skip out on this charity so he can buy something he wants, well that is OK.

It was only then that Opie tells his father why he is saving his money.  It seems there is a little girl in his class who needs a coat, and he is saving his money for that.

Well, sometimes we come to judgment too soon.
