Dec. 9, 2009 — Dancing with the star
In 1929, 18-year-old Ginger Rogers first appeared on Broadway. Four years later, she was cast opposite Fred Astaire in the first of 10 classic movies they would make together.
Ginger Rogers became one of America's most beloved and successful actresses, making 70 movies and scoring such smash hits as “Hello, Dolly’’ and “Mame’’ even in late middle age.
She had no formal dance training, but she made dance films that will be watched forever. She had no formal business training, but she invested her earnings so wisely that, despite five divorces, she became one of Hollywood's wealthiest women.
Well, sometimes people find a way. Or often, God finds a way for us.
Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
