Dec. 1, 2009 — God's connectors
In December of 1990, 132 feet below the English Channel, workers drilled a car-sized opening through a wall of rock. This was no ordinary hole; it connected the two ends of an underwater tunnel linking Great Britain with the European mainland for the first time since the Ice Age.
Today a train, the Eurostar, shuttles passengers between nations, traveling at high speed through the 31-mile tunnel.
The chunnel is a great achievement in connecting. And it seems that connecting is what the spiritual life is mostly about.
God uses creative ways to connect with us. A sunbeam, a child's laughter, a hug from an old friend, a church – these are God's connectors.
Just a thought. I'm Sid Batts from First Presbyterian Church in downtown Greensboro, fpcgreensboro.org.
