FPC children helped serve dinner at Hot Dish & Hope's third birthday celebration in July. Go to gallery.
The Hot Dish & Hope blog has prayer requests from our guests. Visit the blog.
Since July 8, 2008, Hot Dish & Hope has served a meal each Tuesday at 6 p.m. to anyone who is hungry. Hot Dish & Hope also has a Thursday evening meal at 6 p.m. The meals include a short worship service in the Mullin Life Center. The event needs volunteers to help serve meals and to provide other support.
Share in the ministry that puts our faith into action as we serve dinner and a “measure
of hope” to individuals and families in need. We serve dinner Tuesdays and Thursdays in Mullin Life Center.
• Become a Hot Dish & Hope leader (training provided) one time a month.
• Greet and talk with guests, work with the children who are guests, set up, serve meals, wash dishes, count guests, facilitate building security.
• Lead/participate in our opening worship services by providing a brief devotion and/or music (Tuesday or Thursday at 6).
• Work in clothing closet (seasonally, Tuesdays only).
On your schedule
• Help set-up clothing closet
• Make a birthday cake for monthly birthday celebrations (first Tuesday).
• Type up prayer requests, post on the FPC Web site and distribute to groups praying for our guests.
• Help with special projects, often one-time activities for celebrations, pick up or drop off supplies, etc.
• Make a financial gift to help pay for meals (honor and memorial cards are available).
• Donate clothing, shoes, coats, gloves, hats, scarves, backpacks and new socks/underwear for men. (Drop off in the barrel at Shetler reception desk.) Items are especially needed for men. Larger sizes in clothing, shoes (sizes 11-13) and warm gloves are always in short supply.
Drop off donations of men's pants, shorts, short sleeve shirts, Polo shirts, T-shirts, tennis
shoes, and new underwear at the church office
during business hours or contact Teri Hammer, twhammer8@triad.rr.com, to make other
arrangements (or to volunteer).
We particularly need XL and XXL sizes in shirts.
