Sundays – We have worship services at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary each Sunday, and a 10:30 a.m. non-traditional service in the Mullin Life Center.

 

Sundays – Church School classes for all ages begin at 9:30 a.m. throughout the church campus. Adults have several topics to choose from each week. Learn more.

 

Mondays – A watercolor class meets from 9 to 11 a.m. each Monday in FPC's Carlson Arts Studio. Contact Dolly Jennings, 854-2663, to sign up.

 

Tuesdays, Thursdays – FPC Jobsnet helps people without jobs find employment. The group meets at 8:30 a.m. in Smith 101.

 

Tuesdays, Thursdays – Hot Dish & Hope serves a 6 p.m. meal on Tuesdays and Thursdays for anyone who is hungry. Could you help? Contact Sheron Sumner, sksumnr@bellsouth.net or 292-9366.

 

Thursdays – Everyone 55 and older is invited to Friendship Day each Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Enjoy fellowship, games, exercise and lunch. Contact Russell Sherrill, rsherrill@fpcgreensboro.org.

 

Thursdays – Lunch is available in the Mullin Life Center each Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and younger.

Bible school concludes – Our Bible school programs conclude Thursday with a brief program at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. We'll have popsicles for dessert.

 

 


Sunday, Aug. 1

 

Sandie Gravett concludes study – Appalachian State University professor Sandie Gravett concludes her four-part discussion in Young Men's Bible Class, 9:30 a.m. in Redhead Hall. Summer Connection: Pastor-Led Reflection and Study joins Young Men's Bible Class for Dr. Gravett's discussion.

 

Sid Batts returns to pulpit – Senior Pastor Sid Batts returns to the pulpit Sunday, Aug. 1, after his annual study leave and vacation during July. Sid will preach Following Christ in a Facebook World during both 10:30 a.m. services.

 

Joe Sandoval's ordination Seminary graduate Joe Sandoval will be ordained during a special 4 p.m. service in the sanctuary Sunday, Aug. 1. A reception follows in the Mullin Life Center. Read Joe's recent letter to the congregation.

Youth: Open Art Studio The art studio, lower level of Memorial, will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 10 for youth. Come and get dirty! Clay can be fun, but it sure makes a mess. Please bring $5 to cover the cost of supplies. You will be able to do clay projects or stained glass projects. Any ceramic projects will take two sessions to complete.

 

Learn about Holy Land trip Senior Pastor Sid Batts leads a 10-day trip to the Holy Land that departs Feb. 25. If you're interested, you're invited to a 7 p.m. informational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 10, in Smith 201, the Garrison Room.

 

 


Wednesday, Aug. 11

 

Youth to Wet’N’Wild It’s a day of fun in the sun. Youth willl meet at Emerald Point that morning at 9:45 a.m. Bring $25 for your ticket into the park and money for lunch. Your ride should plan to pick you up at 3 p.m. Don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen.

 


Monday, Aug. 16

 

PYC Movie Night All youth are invited to meet at 7 p.m. in the Senior High Room, third floor of Shetler, for dinner and discussion. It’s a night of food and film, it will be just like going to the theater. We’ll have popcorn and drinks but more comfortable seats. We will finish up by 9:30 p.m.

Community Service Group – The Community Service Group at First Presbyterian meets at 10 a.m. in the Garden Room, Smith 106. The group hand-makes useful items for distribution in our community. Learn more.

 


Friday, Aug. 20-Sunday, Aug. 22

 

Middle School Beach Bash – Come to the beach for one last party before the beginning of school! We’ll stay in Wilmington, play at the beach, and have a fabulous time together. Spend the weekend re-connecting with your PYC friends, and make some new ones, too. Registration forms and information will be available soon.

 


Sunday, Aug. 22

 

Marketplace Family Fair – Marketplace Family Fair, 3 to 6 p.m., is a wonderful way to reconnect with church family after a busy summer. As part of the fair, preschoolers, elementary-age children and their parents will travel together to see and experience home life and rituals in Nazareath, synagogue music and dramas in the temple, fun games and Bible time animals on the lawn and a bustling Marketplace full of crafts and food. Nursery is provided for infants, toddlers and 2-year-old children. The cost is $5 per person. Please use this form to register.

 


Monday, Aug. 23

 

Preschool Music Morning – All 4- and 5-year-old children are invited to Preschool Music Morning from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 23. We'll sing, play instruments, games and have movement activities. Senior High Lake Trip School will be back in session, but fall programs haven’t quite started yet. Time to take a little trip down to the lake. It’s will be a weekend of fun on the water and in the water down at the Atkinson’s lake house. Registration forms and details will be available soon.

Secret Saint deadline You can make sure an out-of-town college or boarding school student knows the love and support of his or her church family by being a Secret Saint. FPC hosting November dental clinic Please help FPC host the Missions of Mercy free dental clinic Nov. 5-6, with set up on Nov. 4. Volunteers are needed for facility support. No special skills are needed for these volunteer positions.
