Church School

Each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m., First Presbyterian offers Church School classes for all ages, from preschool through adults.

Use the menu at left to learn more about each age group.

During the summer, children and youth do not have formal Church School classes. Children in K-5 are invited to the third floor of the Corl Building for activities together. Youth can stop by the Senior High room on the third floor of Shetler.

Adults have a variety of Church School classes available. See this week's listings.

New class, Family Matters, begins this fall

Join us this fall in Family Matters, a new Church School class devoted to supporting, educating and nurturing families at all ages and stages of their development. The class will meet at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.

The curriculum is especially appropriate for parents with children at home. However, empty nesters and grandparents – or anyone who believes that family matters – is encouraged to attend. In a cross-generational learning environment, we will grow and benefit from the wisdom and experiences of one another.

Here's a preview of what we'll be discussing this fall:

  • Sept. 12-Oct. 31 (no class Oct. 17): The Five Love Languages of Children, which include Physical Touch, Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, and Gifts and Acts of Service. You will also learn how to discover your child’s primary love language and how discipline relates to the love languages. The book by Gary Chapman, Ph.D., and Ross Campbell, M.D., can be pre-ordered for $10.50 by contacting Marjorie Donnelly (see below) who will facilitate the series.
  • Nov. 7-21: Unplug the Christmas Machine.

Contact Marjorie Donnelly, director of adult education, at 478-4723 or mdonnelly@fpcgreensboro.org to learn more.
