Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation. Our heritage, and much of what we believe, began with John Calvin (1509-1564), whose writings crystallized much of the Reformed thinking that came before him. Learn more»
Founded in 1824, FPC has been a part of the Greensboro community for more than 185 years.
We are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). We affirm Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. We believe that each of us is called to work out our beliefs based on the Scriptures and the historic creeds and confessions of the church.
Worship is at the heart of who we are and what we do. We listen for God and offer our gifts as we go out into the world as the head, heart and hands of Christ today. While we believe in the truth of our own doctrines, we affirm people with different beliefs as full members of Christ’s body.
Presbyterians have always emphasized education, and every member is encouraged to study alone and in small groups and to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
We follow the Book of Order of our denomination, which calls for lay members and ministers to govern together. This group is called the Session. Our ordained pastors participate along with about 60 elders elected by the congregation. These elders reflect the diversity of our membership with men and women of many ages and backgrounds.
